Mission

The European Society of Teleradiology (ESTeR) is a scientific and professional society dedicated to advancing teleradiology and promoting its safe, effective and responsible practice throughout Europe and internationally.

ESTeR brings together radiologists and other professionals with an interest in teleradiology to foster collaboration, exchange knowledge and contribute to the development of high-quality patient care in an increasingly interconnected radiological environment.

The Society promotes teleradiology as an integral part of modern radiology and seeks to provide an independent professional forum for addressing its clinical, scientific, technological, educational, ethical and organisational aspects.

Statutes – Article 1: Aims and Objectives

The European Society of Teleradiology (ESTeR) is a non-profit scientific and professional society whose principal purpose is to promote excellence in teleradiology and its contribution to patient care.

The objectives of the Society are:

1. To promote high standards of quality, safety and professional practice in teleradiology.
2. To advance education and training in teleradiology and to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experience among radiologists and other professionals involved in its practice.
3. To encourage and support scientific research concerning teleradiology, including its clinical, technological, organisational and socioeconomic aspects.
4. To study and contribute to the development of standards, recommendations and best practices for teleradiology, including cross-border radiological practice.
5. To promote the responsible development and implementation of digital technologies, artificial intelligence and other innovations relevant to teleradiology.
6. To provide a forum for discussion of professional, ethical, regulatory, medico-legal and workforce issues arising from the practice of teleradiology.
7. To encourage cooperation and professional exchange between radiologists, healthcare institutions, universities, scientific societies and other organisations involved in teleradiology.
8. To promote collaboration between European countries while encouraging dialogue and scientific cooperation with the international teleradiology community.
9. To organise and support scientific meetings, educational activities, publications, research projects, consensus statements and other initiatives that further the objectives of the Society.
10. To represent and promote the scientific and professional interests of teleradiology and to contribute to the continuing development of teleradiology as an important component of modern radiological practice.

In pursuing these objectives, ESTeR shall maintain scientific and professional independence and shall place patient safety, quality of care, professional integrity and the advancement of radiology at the centre of its activities.
